Pediatric Care Nurse Fellowship Program at Schneider Children's Hospital
Open to both recent graduates and experienced nurses, the Pediatric Care Nurse Fellowship Program is specifically geared toward nurses new to pediatric care. With a primary focus on caring for the complex and multifaceted demands of critically ill infants and children within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the fellowship includes a one-year, three-semester program designed to acquaint nurses with the full continuum of pediatric care.
The program includes three major components: (1) patient simulation experiences through the use of digitally enhanced, anatomically correct mannequins such as Sim Baby, Sim Man and Medi-Child; (2) didactic experiences and professional seminars including comprehensive pediatric assessment, developmentally focused pediatric patient care management, interdisciplinary collaboration and family centered care; and (3) direct care assignments that include hands-on experience working with infants and children under the guidance of a Master and Associate fellow nurse.

The William Randolph Hearst Critical Care Nursing Fellowship
New graduates and experienced nurses may apply for our William Randolph Hearst Critical Care Nursing Fellowship. Offered at two facilities recognized for advanced instrumentation and superior medical services, including North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, this one-year, three-semester fellowship focuses on critical care within a selected range of specialties: cardiothoracic surgery, coronary care, medical ICU, neonatal ICU, neuroscience ICU, pediatric ICU and surgical ICU.
The program includes three major components: (1) patient simulation experiences through the use of digitally enhanced, anatomically correct mannequins such as Sim Man and Sim Ann; (2) didactic experiences and professional seminars that focus on comprehensive assessment skills, patient care management, interdisciplinary collaboration and nursing models of care delivery; and (3) direct care assignments across the range of selected specialties.

Emergency Department Nurse Fellowship Program
The Emergency Department Nurse Fellowship Program is offered at numerous teaching and community hospitals across the North Shore-LIJ Health System, and is open to both recent graduates and experienced nurses. This one-year, three-semester fellowship focuses on medical, surgical and high-risk emergency care within the delivery room, cath lab, emergency medical services (EMS), intensive care, newborn intensive care, pediatrics and pediatric intensive care, psychiatry and stroke/neuroscience as well as a home base in the emergency department of one of the participating hospitals.
The program includes four major components: (1) patient simulation experiences through the use of digitally enhanced, anatomically correct mannequins; (2) clinical rotations within the selected departments; (3) individualized education and mentoring; and (4) professional seminars and education sessions that focus on current emergency nursing modalities.
