North Shore-LIJ’s bustling Food and Nutrition department serves over 4,500 meals per day to patients throughout our vast health system. We are a diverse team of energetic individuals with a shared pride in our ability to positively impact each patient’s experience.
Our team reflects the tremendous diversity of the New York metropolitan area, and is made up of a diverse range of professionals including registered dieticians, dietetic technicians, food service associates, motor vehicle operators, storekeepers, chefs, cooks, cashiers, clerical staff, and lead dietary workers. Our registered dieticians are credentialed by the American Dietetic Association.
While the scope of our mission within the health system is large, we meet it efficiently through the efforts of team players willing to do what is necessary to meet the needs of our patients. We utilize the latest CBORD Diet Office Management system for menu processing. Nutritional care of each patient is planned, administered and evaluated by registered dieticians according to the patient’s needs and physician orders. And meals are prepared and assembled in a centralized location, and delivered to patient units by food service personnel.
