At North Shore-LIJ, our Rehabilitation team understands that collaboration and effective communication are keys to enabling us to transform care in this field. To ensure that we can continue to deliver the highest quality care, each team member completes TEAM STEPPS training, and senior therapists oversee every clinical rotation while serving as valuable mentors to all staff.

We serve patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, from simple to highly complex. As a part of our team, you’ll work with professionals representing a broad range of specialties, such as orthopedics, amputation and joint replacement, strokes and neurological impairments, traumatic brain and/or spinal injuries, sports injuries, oncology, tumors and medical/surgical and cardiac rehabilitation. Unlike many other rehabilitation providers, therapists with us provide wound care services, and many on our staff hold advanced certifications in this field.

Our multi-disciplinary team includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, physical therapy assistants, certified occupational therapy assistants and recreational therapists. Whatever your role, we offer you tremendous opportunities for growth throughout our system, which includes many nationally recognized rehabilitation facilities:

  • Institute for Orthopedic Science: Multidisciplinary care for every facet of the musculoskeletal system
  • Harvey Cushing Institutes of Neuroscience: Includes twelve neurological clinics specializing in strokes, brain tumors, neurodegenerative disease, pain and more
  • Orzac Center for Care and Rehabilitation: Long/short term rehabilitative care for adults
  • The Stern Family Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation: Niche services for short-term and skilled nursing patients who have orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, pulmonary, acquired brain injury and general medical/surgical diagnoses

  • Transitions of Long Island: Comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation for individuals with acquired neurological injuries
  • Regional Center for Brain Injury Rehabilitation: Serves patients with strokes, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other brain-related disorders
  • Orthopedic & Rehabilitation Institute: Helps patients overcome physical limitations due to scoliosis, joint disease, other orthopedic conditions or neurological, cardiac and pulmonary diseases

We invite you to join us as we continue to raise the standard in rehabilitation care, and in rehabilitation careers.
