I have been with Zucker Hillside Hospital for 20 years, and throughout them all the North Shore-LIJ Health System has set a standard of excellence that I try to maintain, while also working to set new ones. I don’t let the bounds of my job description keep me from going above and beyond.
I’ve always believed in establishing great working relationships with my team members, and doing what is best for the patients. Even if I can’t directly provide the necessary care for a patient, I refer them to where they need to go, and I make it my responsibility to follow up with them. Transforming care happens when we work together.
Among the most seasoned and experienced in the country, North Shore-LIJ’s Social Work/Behavioral Health team is a leader in social work practice, education and research. We understand that physical illness can have a major impact on the lives of patients and their families, and our team works hard to improve the well-being of patients through careful psychosocial assessments, advocacy, education, counseling and planning for aftercare needs.
With us, you’ll be part of a team providing services across the continuum of care to patients of all ages, in a multitude of settings including medical, surgical, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiac and critical care. In addition, we also provide social work services in our Emergency Departments and various ambulatory care programs such as prenatal care assistance and satellite dialysis. By collaborating with departments throughout the health system, our social workers find innovative solutions daily that offer patients new hope on their journey through the healing process.
Our social workers are all Master’s level graduates, and our health system serves as a major training site for social work interns obtaining their Master’s degree from one of the seven schools of social work in the New York region.
Whether you are a new graduate, an experienced Social Worker or you are considering a career move into this uniquely challenging arena, we invite you to make a difference in the lives of our patients and join our team today.
