Asst Dir HIM

Description:

We are currently looking for an Assistant Director of HIM to be responsible for the following:

• Manages and coordinates the staff and activities of the Quality Control, Coding Analysis, Assembly, Physician's Incomplete, and Transcription areas of the HIM Department.
• Reviews the coding plan for potential problems and ensures daily quotas are met to ensure a current billing cycle.
• Ensures computer equipment is updated on a timely basis to keep coding accurate and current.
• Monitors the Delinquent Chart Management System. Evaluates the delinquent chart count; recommends and implements corrective action to keep the number under threshold.
• Oversees the production of the weekly suspension list and related reports. Maintains accurate and orderly data to support the suspension process.
• Conducts concurrent and retrospective audits of discharge data and logbook documentation to ensure quality and integrity of records.
• Interacts with systems support staff to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
• Manages and implements staffing requirements. Ensure adequate coverage at all times.
• Develops and manages direct reports; oversees the development and management of indirect reports.
• Builds and maintains productive inter/intra-departmental work relationships to optimize operations.
• Ensures operating compliance with government and agency regulations.
• Ensures coordination, integration, communication, implementation, integrity and evaluation of operating policies and procedures with NSLIJHS standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field, required.
• RHIA (Registered Health Information Association) certification, or RHIA certification eligible, required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progreive experience in Medical Records/Health Information Management.
