Description:

The Quality Informatics Specialist provides clinical analysis for the clinical informatics team and/or the Institute for Clinical Excellence leadership. In this role, you will support the development and review of evidenced-based clinical content for inpatient and outpatient electronic medical records. You will provide retrospective review and analysis of data to evaluate outcomes and effectiveness of practice improvement initiatives.




Responsibilities include:

  • Assists a multi-facility and multidisciplinary committee with the development and review of clinical content (order sets, documentation and clinical support).
  • Assists in supporting multiple subject-matter expert groups in developing and reviewing content in support of enterprise-wide clinical standardization for reduced variability in care delivery, including inpatient order sets, and outpatient disease and wellness management plans.
  • Assists with the evaluation of the effectiveness and outcomes of clinical initiatives within the Institute of Clinical Excellence. Provides management and analysis of electronic medical records data to support evaluation of clinical programs and interventions. Focuses on the embedding of clinical content within the electronic medical record.
  • Fosters collaboration between clinical leadership, staff, clinical informatics team and the Institute for Clinical Excellence. Acts as liaison between Information Technology and teams/staff.
  • Serves as a resource to the Director of CIS EMB and Order Sets. Utilizes clinical and analytical skills to evaluate proposed projects and makes recommendations. Identifies best-practice opportunities.
  • Maintains understanding and familiarity with a variety of inpatient and ambulatory information systems and associated data. Identifies opportunities to leverage data.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a Physician Assistant program, required.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse or PA in New York State, required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience with principles of evidence-based practice, performance improvement methodologies, quality management measures and metrics and clinical databases, required.
  • Excellent analytic skills including ability to evaluate medical literature relevant to a specific clinical problem, required.
  • Experience with data management and analytic tools, required.
  • Candidate must have experience in Chemotherapy.
  • Experience with Zynx, preferred.
  • Strong communication and team consensus building skills, required.
