2010 National Quality Healthcare Award. We are the proud recipient of the 2010 National Quality Healthcare Award from the National Quality Forum (NQF). CMS Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration Project Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service (CMS) announced its awards for the hospitals participating in its Health Quality Incentive Demonstration Project (HQID). For 2010, North Shore-LIJ Health System was granted the highest monetary awards of any participating health system in the country.
Excellence in Patient Safety Award. The North Shore-LIJ Health System's comprehensive stroke program received the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council's (NSHC) 2009 Excellence in Patient Safety Award, the top honor, for distinguished achievement in patient safety and quality improvement. North Shore-LIJ finished first among 24 submissions to NSHC, the membership association that represents Long Island's 24 nonprofit and public hospitals.
Commitment to Quality through Enhanced Technology / Electronic Medical Records. North Shore-LIJ uses the latest technology to enhance quality, safety and efficiency of care. We are a national leader because of the commitment of employees and medical staff to planning for and using new technology to deliver better, safer care. North Shore-LIJ is installing an advanced clinical information system to automate and streamline the flow of information between all of your care providers. This new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) will include test results, physician orders and all documentation related to your care. This multi-year project is well underway and will be phased in at each of our facilities to ensure that your medical information travels with you wherever you are receiving care in our health system.
