Each and every day, my mission is to aid in healing, maximizing health potential and providing comfort to my patients and their families by treating them all as if they were my own family. I have been a nurse for 30 years, practicing at Plainview Hospital for the past 25 years. Plainview Hospital feels like home. Over time, I have learned that being a nurse involves much more than carrying out doctors orders and passing medications. It also involves listening, educating patients and families, and attending to all the little details of their stay in the hospital. I feel that all of this is important in treating patients and helping them and their families feel comforted and well cared for. This is my responsibility, this is why I became a nurse - to take care of people the best way I possibly can.
But I can't take all the credit for my ability to provide care. I can only be as good as the people I work with. Here at Plainview, we have a great team and we work well together. My coworkers, along with the education and support I receive from the health system provide me with the tools for success, making it easier for me to excel in my role. While nursing and health care delivery has changed over the years, I can honestly say I continue to enjoy my time at Plainview Hospital and I love being a nurse even more now than I did when I started 30 years ago.
